Job Summary:

Responsible for the daily operational supervision of the Respiratory staff. The position oversees personnel and daily assignments schedules, assists Director in evaluating staff competencies, collects and collates QA and statistical data. These responsibilities are offered and maintained in order to provide the highest quality of service to the community at large.

Position Responsibilities

Assists and guides respiratory staff regarding patient care.

Collaborates and communicates with other Department leaders, team members, and customers in an effective and professional manner.

Develops, teaches, and reinforces education on disease process, treatment, and wellness to staff, patient and/or family, and the community at large.

Set-up, operate, and maintain medical gas and airway humidification, and mechanical ventilator systems while educating and maintaining staff competency in its application responsibilities.

Interacts/interfaces with varying computer information management systems in order to document patient care related activities.

Assists the Director in the collection and recordkeeping of Department statistical data as well as maintain continuous compliance with regulatory requirements.

Represents the Department on various hospital or system committees as assigned.

Maintains competency in all aspects of the Blood Gas Laboratory QC Program inclusive routine and emergency care and maintenance of analyzers.

Required Experience:

Preferred: 2-3 years of supervisory experience

Required Education:

Required: Graduate of an AMA approved and accredited program of study in Respiratory Care. BSRT or Bachelor's degree in a Biological Science required.

Training / Certification / Licensure:

Registered as a Respiratory Therapist as determined by the National Board for Respiratory Care. BLS credential. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care.
