Job Summary

The incumbent is primarily responsible for initiating venous access for the purpose of IV contrast administration during the performance of imaging procedures. Venous access includes the use of implanted ports as necessary. The incumbent will also assist with other nursing procedures, medication administration, taking vital signs, collecting, and processing specimens for analysis, and assisting physicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures. Incumbent will also provide Tech Assist support to Radiology technologists in all modalities defined as: ensuring patients scheduled for these studies are prepped and prepared, aiding the technologists by navigating the patient from check in to procedure area to check out. Incumbent will be main contact for technologist regarding patients scheduled. Incumbent observes records and reports the physical and mental condition of patients. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies necessary for daily operations and prepares equipment for treatments and procedures.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $43.00 - $53.94 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Completion of board accredited or approved nursing program
  • One (1) to three (3) years related experience
  • IV Certification
  • Port Access Certification (can be obtained within three (3) months of hire)
  • Experience with pediatric patients, including ability to start IVs
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification (can be obtained within three (3) months of hire)
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
