Monitors the countywide collection efforts for non-tax accounts receivable. Reviews and implements comprehensive revenue collection and accounts receivable procedures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; provides assistance to county agencies and departments with accounts receivable related matters. Monitors the financial accounting activity of funds; ensures reconciliation of financial reports related to accounts receivable; and assists in the preparation of the county's annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR). Monitors accounts receivable financial transactions for compliance with policies and technical accuracy. Oversees staff involvement in the processing of customer accounts, returned checks, and research of liens.
Note: This requisition may be used to fill future vacant positions.
Salary offer will not exceed the mid-point of the salary range $89,901.76.

- Performs highly technical analyses of county financial operations;
- Participates in development and implementation of county-wide policies and procedures pertaining to accounting and financial reporting;
- Researches accounting issues and new accounting pronouncements and recommends solutions and means of implementation;
- Prepares financial statements and reports required by federal and state, including the county's annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR);
- Serves as a consultant to departments on accounting and financial reporting matters;
- Provides assistance to outside auditors by preparing work papers and financial reports as required;
- Files all required Federal Information Returns and prepares related Annual Withholding Reconciliations for IRS reporting, and manages the related financial system accounting processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies.) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting; or a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field that has been supplemented by at least 18 credit hours of intermediate level accounting or higher; plus two years of professional accounting experience, including one year of experience working with automated accounting systems. CPA certification, or a master's degree in an appropriate field, may be substituted for one year of required experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a credit check as a condition of hiring and every four years thereafter to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with governmental or fund accounting, and Enterprise Resource Planning financial systems.
- Experience applying GAAP, analyzing and interpreting financial and accounting data, and preparing financial statements and reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Innovative individual motivated by continual change.
- Excellent skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, MS Teams).
- CPA or other professional certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary; however, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Ability to read data on computer monitor and operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to communicate with others. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
