Position Summary: The Youth Career Coach provides job readiness training and coaching, individual mentoring, and post-secondary support services to adolescents. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) serves Youth in the Eastern New Mexico Region according to the contract with the Eastern Area Workforce Development Board.

Duties and Responsibilities: Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop an individualized service strategy for each participant that identifies educational and employment goals and objectives with services and support for positive outcomes
- Assess participant's job readiness and determine needs, provide career counseling, and assist participant with meeting long and short-term employment and educational goals
- Coordinate the recruitment and enrollment of program participants
- Provide individual and group-based career readiness training/ life skills workshops
- Develop and execute professional curricula related to job skills and post-secondary education
- Use labor market information and industry trends to help participants assess employment and educational opportunities
- Develop relationships with potential employers and coordinate the placement of well-prepared youth into those opportunities
- Coordinate supportive services and provide follow-up services to program participants
- Provide training as requested by administration
- Perform routine administrative functions (statistics, client record keeping, research, etc.) and special administrative assignments
- Other duties as assigned
Minim Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent amount of education and/or experience.(one year of experience in a related field equals one year of education)
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
- Excellent computer and office skills
- Ability to establish good professional relationships with staff, employers, clients and diverse populations
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess a valid driver's license as travel is required
- One year or more experience in Workforce Development activities is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn and apply campus policies and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the College community and campus visitors
- Ability to gather and analyze data necessary for informed decisions involving the community, students and employees
- Skills in interpersonal communications are needed
- Must have the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; to follow oral and written directions; to understand and follow safety procedures; to operate and use standard office equipment
- Must be of good moral character with conduct consistent with the university and state code of conduct.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions: Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines. Traveling is mandatory, some overnight stays might be required.
