Molding Process and Tooling Engineer I

The Molding Process and Tooling Engineer I collaborates with experienced engineers to support the Molding Factory (including Molding, CWA, and Biomaterials). This role involves developing and optimizing the injection molding process for both new and existing tools, sustaining and troubleshooting injection molding tools and processes, and completing cost-saving projects to enhance factory efficiency. Additionally, the engineer assists in developing new molding techniques while adhering to the quality system. This is an onsite position in Utica, NY.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced engineers to design and implement manufacturing and molding processes, ensuring efficient production and high product quality.
• Participate in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of molding equipment and machinery.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new molding techniques.
• Conduct process validation and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Assist in conducting experiments and tests to evaluate the performance of different molding materials and techniques.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and cost-savings projects by identifying areas for optimization and suggesting innovative solutions.
• Support the development of tooling and molds by providing input on design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Monitor production processes, collect data, and analyze results to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for enhancement.
• Help maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, materials, and experimental results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration of molding processes.
• Adhere to and maintain the quality system standards and procedures.
• Provide technical support and training to production staff as needed.
• Conduct investigations for Non-conformances and CAPAs
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in molding and manufacturing.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Internship, co-op, or job experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Knowledge Requirements:

• Familiarity with quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO, GMP).
• Knowledge of CAD software and other engineering tools.
• Knowledge of Statistics software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a Molding Manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO13485.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks
• Knowledge of Minitab.
• Strong passion for manufacturing, molding processes, and hands-on engineering.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
• Self-driven and organized

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is 62,000- 97,000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMED's good faith belief at the time of this posting.
