Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.44 to $30.41/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $28.44 to $40.76/hour.

Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under general supervision of the Associate Director, Employer Engagement, the Career Events Manager coordinates recruiting events including career fairs, career conferences, industry forums, networking events, employer engagement receptions, information sessions, and other events. In collaboration with the Associate Director, the Career Events Coordinator assumes accountability for timelines for events, ensuring that all aspects are covered and results are accomplished in a timely fashion. Works closely with the Associate Director to plan, organize, and implement events with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, diverse environment. Assists the Associate Director in developing, evaluating, and adjusting event budgets to maximize the use of and track the fiscal resources of programs and events. Works closely with the Associate Director to develop and disseminate satisfaction surveys to employers and students. Compiles information for the preparation of departmental reports for the Associate Director. Assists in generating and researching new leads to increase recruitment at UCSB and employer attendance at all events and assists by performing outreach to and helping employers with recruiting needs. Provides administrative support to the Associate Director and provides backup support for the Career Employment functional area as needed. Works in close collaboration with the Associate Director and Employer Engagement Specialist to execute all events. Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years Relevant work experience.
- Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, detail-oriented/organizational, multi-task, and time management skills.
- Requires interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 55% Career Events Programs Administration - Under general supervision of the Associate Director, Employer Engagement coordinates Career Events and works in close collaboration with the Employer Engagement Specialist. Works closely with the Associate Director, Employer Engagement to establish goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely for events; assumes accountability for timelines for events, ensuring that all aspects are covered and results are accomplished in a timely fashion. Under established guidelines set forth by the Associate Director, plans, organizes, and implements events with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, diverse environment. Effectively manages facilities, policies, and processes of programs and events. Develops appropriate alliances with others to deliver programming and produce events efficiently and effectively and ensures that appropriate resources are available for implementation. Identifies and minimizes potential risks and follows appropriate protocols to ensure a safe environment at all events. Researches new events and keeps up to date on trends at the University/College level. Assists Associate Director in the development of creative and innovative career programming to meet the needs of the students, faculty, alumni, employers, and/or other stakeholders. Creates initial budget proposals and program logistics for Associate Director review. Creates and submits post-event expense and revenue financial reports. Assists the Associate Director in developing, evaluating, and adjusting event budgets to maximize use of and track the fiscal resources of programs and events. Demonstrates effective stewardship and use of fiscal resources and follows ethical and legal guidelines related to career services' financial resources. Handles registration fees, invoices, W9s, purchase orders, etc. Tracks purchases on Flex Card, collects receipts, and prepares proper forms for each purchase. Resolves issues and determines employer and student program eligibility. Escalates more complex issues to the Associate Director. Provides excellent customer service to on and off campus events constituents before, during and after all events. Collaborates with marketing team, Associate Director, and Employer Engagement Specialist to strategize on marketing campaigns and create promotional materials. Works closely with the Associate Director to measure marketing effectiveness and revise strategies/tactics based on results. Manages and troubleshoots issues within career events module of Handshake, suggests system changes or improvements and provides technical support for employers when utilizing Handshake. Generates basic reports and usage data from system. Works closely with the Associate Director to identify specific satisfaction elements for career events and constructs plan to evaluate overall satisfaction of Career Events Program. Develops, disseminates, and analyzes event surveys to gauge satisfaction and to identify areas for improvement and then presents findings to Associate Director.
- 30% Employer Development & Outreach - Assists the Associate Director in identifying and expanding engagement opportunities with key audiences, including employers, faculty, students, and alumni; generating and researching new leads to increase recruitment at UCSB and employer attendance at all events; and by performing outreach to and assisting employers with recruiting and enhancing their profile on campus. Articulates the value of career services and UCSB to employers. Maintains and communicates an understanding of the labor market, employment trends, and recruiting strategies and techniques. Demonstrates verbal and written skills in communicating complex information to both internal and external audiences.
- 10% General Administration & Support - Provides administrative support to the Associate Director with employer services operational plan including goals, objectives, strategies, and success metrics and provides backup support to the Career Employment functional area as needed. Collaborates with Employer Engagement Team on upcoming projects, events, and initiates new ideas and improvements to current system.
- 5% Organizational Involvement - Participates in staff/professional development meetings and works collaboratively in task groups. Shares relevant professional and career information to other staff members. Engages in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training and staff development activities as appropriate. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
