We seek an expert and transformational leader to join our organization as Director of Engineering, Commerce Performance and Scale. In this role, you will drive the strategy and execution of performance and scale initiatives across our commerce products and platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive performance and scale strategy aligned with business objectives.

  • Lead and inspire a world-class team of engineers, encouraging a culture of excellence and innovation.

  • Establish performance and scale modeling, monitoring, testing, and capacity planning processes.

  • Partner with product management, engineering, and other leaders to integrate performance and scale considerations throughout the development lifecycle

  • Partner with product management, engineering, and other leaders to drive performance and scale initiatives throughout the development lifecycle

  • Drive performance and scale projects with select strategic customers for new architectures or get-well programs on existing implementations.

  • Identify and address performance and scale bottlenecks, optimizing systems for scalability and reliability.

  • Represent performance and scale programs in executive-level meetings and discussions.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and career development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications:
  • 8 + years of proven track record leading software engineering teams with a distinguished track record on technically fast paced projects
  • 5+ years of software development experience as a hands-on individual contributor, including significant commerce and high-scale and performance systems expertise.

  • 2+ years of people management experience, leading strong teams. Proven track record of driving performance improvements in large- scale systems

  • Strong background in software architecture, design principles, and standard processes

  • Expertise in performance modeling, testing, and optimization techniques

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Strategic vision with the ability to complete

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Salesforce will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600. For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $211,500 to $306,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600. For Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $192,200 to $278,600. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
