GENERAL SUMMARY

The role of Manufacturing Engineering Intern is to support manufacturing engineers with projects according to deadlines and within budget while meeting identified objectives. This includes coordinating with others, such as team members, contractors, consultants, and suppliers, in order to deliver projects according to plan. Extensive guidance is expected

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provide assistance to engineering staff as needed.
  • Create and maintain SolidWorks 3D and 2D CAD modeling support for Manufacturing Engineering fixturing and tooling design.
  • Support development and updating of routings using the NetSuite ERP system.
  • Update AutoCAD 2D facility and shop floor layouts.
  • Conduct process time studies and establishment of time standards for various parts and processes.
  • Update and maintain manufacturing process set-up sheets, tooling lists and support documentation.


???????EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in or attending a 4-year Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Degree program. Prefer at least two years completed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires basic CAD design skills including 2D and 3D experience. AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products efficiently, particularly Microsoft Excel.


WORK HOURS

  • Part-time, flexible schedule. A minimum of 8 hours per week is expected during the active school year.
  • Work times are flexible, but initially must occur between 6 am and 4 pm, Monday through Thursday. As internship progresses, work times may be considered outside the boundaries aforementioned.


EMPLOYMENT DATES

  • Start Summer of 2025.
  • Exit date will depend on the Intern's performance. The minimum expectation is through the end of the summer 2025 with the potential of working during academic year.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Physical demands may also include long hours in a shop environment.
  • Position requires movement around the facilities.
  • Occasional handling of material and components.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
