University Testing Center:

The University Testing Center serves UCF students and the Central Florida community with high-security proctored testing services, including a wide variety of placement, proficiency, entrance, and exit exams for undergraduate and graduate programs, foreign language exams, distance learning, and many professional certification exams.

The Opportunity:

This is a temporary assignment not to exceed one year of service. The University Testing Center (UTC) is seeking a full-time employee (40 hours per week) to perform a vital role within the department administering and proctoring standardized exams. UTC provides testing services to currently enrolled UCF students, students from other institutions, and community members to help them achieve their academic and personal potential. There are over 10,000 tests administered annually.

This position is required to acquire and maintain certification for several testing vendor platforms during employment. Vendor certifications are not a necessary condition for hiring.

Responsibilities:


  • Administer and/or proctor placement tests, certification tests, online learning tests and other exams.
  • Take responsibility for the testing environment, including room setup, cleanliness, and organization of test materials.
  • Perform daily software and hardware setup as needed to prepare the testing center for usage.
  • Perform testing software readiness checks, biweekly or as needed.
  • Troubleshoot multiple testing software and security platforms, network issues, and various testing hardware and peripherals, including but not limited to PCs, displays, headsets, cameras, palm vein scanners, microphones, satellite clocks, mobile devices, and accessibility software.
  • Check ID and admit students via the necessary software platform and test regulations.
  • Be attentive to test-takers and test materials.
  • Assist in creating department procedures to document solutions, processes, and procedures related to testing services and/or the technology used to support testing.
  • Complete detailed documentation of any irregularities, void or stop tests as required, and submit incident reports to the appropriate test vendor or authority in a timely manner.
  • Data entry and analysis- roster setup, test scoring, score conversions, score reporting.
  • May train others in test administration and proctoring, including the use of equipment, software, and systems necessary.
  • Ensure safe, secure, and fair test administrations following all vendor, institutional, and departmental guidelines.
  • Respond to guest questions in-person, by phone, email, social media, and video chat as needed.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and debrief sessions.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and 0 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • A.A. or A.S. Degree
  • Prior experience with test administration in a professional test center or higher education institution, computer support, administrative support, student accessibility support services, and/or academic advising.
  • Demonstrated level of professional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to train and learn new equipment, software, and systems.
  • Keen attention to detail, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:


  • May not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at time of employment.
  • Candidates who intend to take any standardized test administered by UTC in the next 12 months are not eligible for this position.
  • Must obtain all certifications required for test administration within 3 months of employment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
