Hematology/Oncology - P2 The Hematology/Oncology Unit, a 40-bed unit with all private rooms, specializes in all adult cancer-related diagnosis and bone marrow transplants. Common in treating cancer, patients often return for follow up or when treatment requires them to be hospitalized for a long time. As a result, staff develops a relationship with patients and their families. Although working with patients who have cancer can be tough, both mentally and emotionally, the staff encourages each other to stay positive and to create a fun working environment. Nursing assistants are intellectually stimulated and learn many useful skills to prepare them for their future career. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions. Education/Experience:
