Job Summary:

Are you passionate about teaching and empowering future nurses? UW-Madison School of Nursing is seeking committed and enthusiastic Clinical Faculty to join our team. As Clinical Faculty, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of nurses, ensuring they receive a comprehensive education and are well-prepared for their professional careers.

In this role, you will work closely with nursing students in the DNP program and may be assigned to provide hands-on instruction and guidance in classrooms, simulated care environments, and through experiential learning based on certification specialty. Depending on expertise, qualifications, and program needs, it is possible to be assigned to teach in undergraduate or PhD programs.

You will serve as the Population Lead for the adult/gerontology primary care track. In the Population Lead role you will assist with the recruitment of top-tier preceptors, secure prime clinical placements, and collaborate to coordinate and oversee the adult/gerontology primary care curriculum.

Responsibilities:

-Serve as adult/gerontology primary care population lead which includes assisting with recruiting preceptors, identifying clinical placements, and collaborating to coordinate and oversee the adult/gerontology primary care curriculum, and supporting new DNP program faculty.

-Teach in DNP programs and baccalaureate (accelerated, traditional, and AD to BSN completion) or PhD programs as appropriate to expertise and program needs.

-Teach using accepted course descriptions, course objectives, and content delivery approaches including assuring that students meet expectations for required clinical hours if assigned to teach clinical courses.

-Teach using strategies to include active learning, simulated experiential learning, and clinical experiential learning in hospital or other health care settings or in community care situations as required by course assignments.

-Collaborate with other faculty on curriculum and course planning at the graduate and undergraduate levels, using concept-based and competency-based teaching and learning assessment strategies.

-Engage in other activities appropriate to a member of the School of Nursing academic community such as attending School meetings, participating in faculty development activities, and contributing to meeting the mission and vision of the School.

-Contribute to the School of Nursing mission through service activities (e.g., governance committees, outreach activities, or project task groups).

-Pursue areas of scholarly interest (e.g., evaluation studies to improve teaching and learning).

-Collaborate with colleagues in practice settings through academic-practice partnerships to contribute to student learning, practice improvement, or community outreach.

-Work to support and enhance the diversity, climate, and inclusive excellence of the School of Nursing.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (Adult/Gerontology Primary Care)


Qualifications:

-One or more years of experience in teaching at undergraduate or graduate levels in nursing, or in professional staff development in primary or acute care settings; and
-One or more years of professional experience in a primary care setting as a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS); and
-One or more years of professional experience and certification as a DNP-Primary Care Advanced Practice Nurse and licensure in Wisconsin (or eligibility) as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to the teaching mission of the School of Nursing. Experience with clinical instruction, active learning, competency or concept-based teaching, simulation, and inter-professional education is desirable.

Appointments for candidates prepared at the doctoral level will typically be at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank depending on prior teaching experience.

Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary for this position starts at a rate of $90,500. This is a C-Basis (9-month) position. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, the employee in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous sick leave, holidays, competitive insurances and savings accounts, and employer sponsored retirement benefits.

Travel to clinical sites to oversee student clinical experiences may be required.
