About the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The depth and breadth of IRIM breaks through disciplinary boundaries and allows for transformative research that transitions from theory to robustly deployed systems featuring next-generation robots. Fundamental research includes expertise in mechanics, control, perception, artificial intelligence and cognition, interaction, and systems.

Job Summary

The Georgia Tech AI-CARING Institute is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Deployment Coordinator to manage and oversee the deployment of various smart home technologies in the homes of older adults residing in a retirement community as part of a large research effort.

The Deployment Coordinator's responsibilities will include planning, scheduling, and on-site support for deployments and coordinating with a team consisting of software developers, technical support staff, and researchers. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, experience in a service-oriented role, and familiarity with project management.
This position will ensure that the deployments are conducted in a smooth and timely manner. They will play a vital role in maintaining relationships with our participants and ensure their satisfaction through timely and efficient communication and coordination of research activities.

Note: This position will be hired through the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM) but will report to the Director of the AI Virtual Assistant (AVA) Lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage relationships with the retirement community and recruit study participants.
  • Work closely with the research team to develop, document, and execute deployment plans. Improve deployment processes and procedures over time.
  • Identify and resolve any issues that could impact planned deployments.
  • Coordinate and schedule technology installations and provide on-site troubleshooting and support. Escalate issues to the technology support team as needed.
  • Provide information and assistance to participants, answering their questions and addressing their concerns.
  • Administer questionnaires and conduct interviews with participants throughout the deployment to capture their feedback about the various technologies.
  • Participate in meetings with Institute leadership and research team to communicate deployment progress and any challenges that need to be addressed.
  • Establish, document, and improve deployment processes and procedures over time.
Required Qualifications

Research Scientist I

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field

Research Scientist II

  • A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven work experience in a service-oriented role
  • Strong understanding of customer service principles
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree. Degree in psychology or related field preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience working in a research setting preferred but not required.
