The Institute for Health Informatics (IHI) of the University of Minnesota is seeking applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor faculty position to work in a multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative research environment in support of a number of translational research projects. The position will also have administrative responsibilities in the Health Informatics Program (HIP) of the University's Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI). About the Department
The Institute for Health Informatics is an academic unit reporting to the Office of Academic Clinical Programs overseen by the Vice President for Clinical Affairs at the University of Minnesota. It is an interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty from the six health-related schools: Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Veterinary Medicine. The Institute aims to lead the inter-professional discovery, application, and teaching of health information science to improve the health of individuals and communities by creating a vibrant collaborative environment with a strong sense of community whose members are intellectually curious and are not afraid to take risks as they strive toward the future in health informatics research. The IHI works closely with the CTSI to promote multidisciplinary, collaborative translational medical research. The University recognizes the critical role of health informatics in the care of patients, the conduct of research, and the education of its students. Currently the IHI is housing research programs and experts at the forefront of several established as well as several emerging and forward-looking informatics thematic areas. IHI covers the full spectrum of informatics from basic science to translational to medical/clinical informatics. IHI investigators individually and in collaborative teams conduct foundational research that spans the spectrum from data science, algorithms, theoretical properties of machine learning, AI, etc., all the way to applied research with EHR and other data, and trials with human subjects. IHI faculty are at the forefront of many critical informatics areas nationally and are making significant contributions to science. Pay and Benefits
