Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Analyst I, Academic Affairs will be responsible for performing Division budgetary, economic, institutional and financial analysis and reporting functions. Additionally, will be responsible for all aspects of Division budgeting including budget preparation, formulation, presentation, execution, and financial management policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitor expenditures and budgets for the division of Academic Affairs; Assist with the resolution of position management, budget issues that may occur; Review personnel/payroll forms as assigned
  2. Monitor queries to ensure system processes are running, dispatching, validating, and updating; Provide timely and accurate information for payment
  3. Work collaboratively with all departments and serve as point of contact with Dean and Directors for Academic Affairs; Provide training, instruction, and ongoing support to different department positions, as needed
  4. Monitor and process purchases; work closely with Accounts Payable to resolve issues with invoices
  5. Create and analyze reports; Complete cost analyses, expense projections, trend reports, and ad hoc reports to provide to leadership as needed
  6. Ensure that reporting procedures and approvals are attained and communicated for travel, and that LSC expense reporting policies and procedures are followed
  7. Provide guidance and information to end users with regards to the querying, reporting, and maintenance of HCM information; Maintain department changes within iStar
  8. Manage and provide recommendations for the development of Academic Affairs annual operational and capital budgets; Provide proactive and ongoing oversight of Academic Affairs budget, including providing leadership for annual budget development process
  9. Assist and teach Requesters at the campus in the division of Academic Affairs with requisition entry, PO closing, release of encumbrances and pre-encumbrances
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to analyze data and interpret detailed information and convert to knowledge-based reports and recommendations
  • Broad knowledge of general Accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with overlapping time-frames while still meeting deadlines
  • Strong initiative and analytical skills
  • Ability to utilize automated financial systems, specifically Hyperion Financial Planning and PeopleSoft FSCM
  • Strong working knowledge of PCs and related software, with a focus on Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience794
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer. The information outlined below will provide the Office of Human Resources everything needed to determine an accurate starting salary.
