Gymnastics Aide

Join our team as a Gymnastics Aide and help kids build confidence and skills in a fun, safe environment! You'll assist in gymnastics classes and camps, working directly with instructors to guide kids through exciting activities. Your role includes providing spotting support, preparing the gymnastics area, ensuring safety, and helping students master new skills. With your energy and teamwork, you'll contribute to a positive and educational experience for all!

The Gymnastics Aide is a part time (up to 18 hour/week) position with a pay rate of $13.50/hour.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Gymnastics Aide will assist in instructing gymnastic classes and camps in a safe, positive, educational and fun environment. The Aide will always work under the continuous direct oversight of the Gymnastics Instructor.

  • Provides safe and effective spotting skills assigned for class.
  • Executes planned activities to include age appropriate gymnastics skills.
  • Assists gymnastic instructors in planning program activities.
  • Participates in structured activities with the children; observes and assists participants in practicing and acquiring new skills.
  • Prepares gymnastics area for daily activities and assists with clean-up of facility at end of the day. Checks equipment for safety and reports any safety issues to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintains a safe environment for the children.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of gymnastics equipment including beams, bars, vault, mats, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience working with diverse groups of people in age, ethnicity, and abilities.



  • Ability to handle youth and handle disciplinary issues effectively.
  • Ability to interact with the general public in a calm, rational manner.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 2+ years of experience in gymnastics is strongly preferred.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED Certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and relate well with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of various gymnastics skills
  • Relate well to children, parents, team members, and have superior communication skills
  • Friendly, positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic

This job is performed in a recreation setting where the noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.

This position will require performance of duties during hours commensurate with the hours of operation at the Kroc Center including some nights and weekends, and timely responses during off hours.

Ability to spot children through various gymnastics skills, such as forward/backward rolls, vaulting, handsprings, and various other skills.
