Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States can be found in the JOB INFO section below. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Data Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to manage our data engineering function. As a Manager-Data Engineering, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Manager of Enterprise Data that will be responsible for leading and managing a team of data engineers to design, construct, and maintain large-scale data processing systems and infrastructure. This role involves ensuring that data is easily accessible and usable for analysts within IT and across the business, maintaining data quality and integrity, and collaborating with other teams to support data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with the Advanced Analytics team to build and sustain data pipelines that supply the necessary unified architecture required to deliver consulting-level advanced analytical insights across the business and enterprise data sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Data Pipeline Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of efficient data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow from various sources to data storage systems.
  • Data Infrastructure: Manage the establishment and optimization of data warehouses and data lakes to support storage efficiency and retrieval speed.
  • Data Quality and Governance: Develop and enforce policies and master data management program to maintain data quality and integrity, including regular auditing and validation processes.
  • Data Security: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information from breaches and unauthorized access.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, analytics leaders, and other technical teams to prioritize work and develop various data sets and specialized technologies.
  • Innovation: Drive the development of scalable data solutions that can adapt to the growing needs of the organization.
  • Compliance: Ensure that data management practices comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Beliefs in, and alignment with, S&C Guiding Principles and Core Values
  • 7+ years of experience in production control or other related fields within a manufacturing environment, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of precision machining processes and practices within a high mix, low-to-medium volume environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
  • Great leadership skills within a multi-level manufacturing environment, with an ability to lead, guide, motivate, and delegate to deliver results.
  • Sound critical thinking, organizational, planning, and project management skills, and creative problem-solving when obstacles arise.
  • Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Excellent communication skills, (written, verbal, listening, and presentation) ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, from leadership to support staff, and present influentially to achieve buy-in from executives, managers, and team members.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues, and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.
  • Proven success partnering across teams, creating effective partnerships at all levels, and collaborating at an operational level.
  • Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively and finds ways to get things accomplished, even when faced with challenges.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and, preferably, Oracle.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Six Sigma Certification(s).
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma (CLSS).
  • Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).
