UFP Technologies is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 at our campus in Grand Rapids, MI.
Program Timeline / Hours:
- Start date will be April / May
- Expected completion of the internship is August / September 2025
- Full time (40 hours): Monday - Friday
We are not currently offering housing / transportation. Candidates should be within driving distance (45 min).
Summary:
This role utilizes data to evaluate, design, develop, and implement innovative manufacturing processes. Supports transition from concept to production that exceeds customer expectations. This intern will assist the engineering and manufacturing groups with resolving process problems and improving safety, quality, and productivity.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Identifies, executes, and participates in continuous improvements activities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Evaluates processes related to operations, time, cost, and inventory.
- Analyzes and evaluates methods of production and identifies ways to improve them.
- Supports new business development and launch activities.
- Partners with internal personnel including production, quality, engineering, leadership, sales, customer service and maintenance to successfully complete assigned projects.
- Works with a mentor to apply current knowledge and gain experience on key manufacturing processes.
- Participates in a training program that includes equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ensures facility efficiency and workplace safety.
- Presents findings and lessons learned to key business stakeholders at the end of the internship.
- Sets achievable goals that span the duration of the internship which align to the business and professional growth needs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
What we want to see:
- Candidate must be enrolled in a 4-year accredited university/college in an Engineering discipline, i.e. mechanical, design, biomedical, electrical, physics, etc.
- Knowledge of CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCad and or Master Cam is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and mathematic skills.
- Willingness to collaborate in a team environment and looking for opportunities to help.
- Team player who is willing to spend time away from their desk and on the floor working with our products.
- Strong customer facing ability, who can be comfortable and professional in front of the commercial team.
- Candidate must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States. Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.
