The Office of Communications and Marketing is comprised of a high performing team responsible for advancing the university's reputation and telling GW's story through a diverse array of university channels, including digital and web properties and publications, multimedia and web properties, creative services, publications, media relations and paid marketing efforts across the university. This office drives the strategy and tactics for highlighting and raising the visibility of the university's experts, initiatives, and accomplishments.
George Washington University is seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager to advance and support the strategic priorities of its Corcoran School of the Arts & Design.
The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and executing comprehensive communications and marketing strategies that positions the Corcoran School as a leader in the arts and art scholarship, advances its organizational brand, and manages its voice in public-facing materials.
Responsibilities include:
- Directing, managing, and implementing internal and external communications and strategy for the school's academic divisions, partnerships, community engagement initiatives, events and exhibitions.
- Shaping and iterating messaging across communications channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, advertising campaigns and marketing collateral.
- Working with the schools' senior leadership on messaging and critical external and internal communications, as well as event promotion and creation of video content to engage and inform key stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining close relationships with faculty to identify and promote stories of impact and innovation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

About the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design
GW's Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is dedicated to educating the next generation of cultural leaders. Part of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the school functions as an incubator for artists, designers and scholars, who learn from internationally renowned faculty at the intersection of creativity and social innovation. The school has seven program areas that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in art history, design, interior architecture, museum studies, music, fine arts, theatre and dance. Its home in Washington, D.C., means students work and study at some of the city's most prestigious companies, galleries and museums. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

- A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to create, edit, monitor, and promote a wide range of content.
- Experience with online content management systems.
- Demonstrated skill in developing printed or digital collateral including providing guidance and direction or executing video or other photography and design work.
- Advertising and marketing expertise.
