Job Summary:

The University of Colorado (CU) School of Medicine is seeking a talented full-time Internal Communications Program Manager. This position will manage, develop, and implement a comprehensive internal communications plan that delivers key messages effectively to multiple audiences across the Dean's Office, CU School of Medicine, and Anschutz Medical Campus. The Internal Communications Program Manager will write, design, and distribute relevant content through multiple communications channels to support the overall goals and objectives of the CU School of Medicine. This position is a hybrid in-person and remote work model, and it requires excellent project management abilities in a fast-paced environment. The Internal Communications Program Manager will be a contributing member of the CU School of Medicine communications team supporting the goals of the Dean's Office and working to connect and strengthen the communications between the school and its departments, divisions, and centers. - Identify internal communication needs, goals, and objectives.
- Create an internal communications plan for the School of Medicine and Dean's Office.
- Develop and implement effective strategies that engage stakeholders.
- Integrate strategic priorities developed by senior leadership into internal communications.
Content creation and management: (35%)
- Produce compelling and informative newsletters, memorandums, executive leadership messages, and other communications.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to promote academic achievements, research initiatives, and institutional developments.
- Provide consistent messaging, tone, and branding for internal communications channels.
Internal communications channels management (20%)
- Manage and maintain internal communications distribution lists.
- Explore and implement innovative communications tools and techniques.
- Use analytical tools to improve internal communication effectiveness.
Collaboration and best practices (10%)
- Build and maintain relationships with the Dean's Office and School of Medicine shared services communications team.
- Collaborate with colleagues at CU Anschutz Medical Campus, UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, Veterans Affairs, and other partners as appropriate.
- Identify and implement best practices regarding internal communication practices, strategies, and tools.
- Attend campus communications meetings as needed.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, public or media relations, journalism, business, or other related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience working in internal communications, or related communications, public relations, and marketing field(s), preferably in health care or higher education.
- Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on-time deliverables.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on-time deliverables.
- Additional training/professional development in the following areas: graphic design, video editing, photo editing, and newsletter writing.
- Communications experience in a university, academic medical center, and/or large hospital system environment.
- Experience with eComm or similar email marketing platforms.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Canva.
- Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of internal communications principles, including messaging, branding, and culture.
- Ability to lead internal communications initiatives and drive positive change.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Exceptional independent writing skills and experience developing clear, concise, and key message-focused communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles for different audiences.
- Excellent knowledge of editing and grammar, including AP style.
- Ability to translate abstract concepts into impactful written materials.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently capture the voice of a brand/person.
- Highly organized and dependable; able to multitask, working quickly and effectively to manage numerous deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Dedication to producing excellent work and excellent customer service.
- Familiarity with content management systems and basic graphic design principles.
- Self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $65,105 to $82,814. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
