Boise Cascade Wood Products has an opening for a Logistics Specialist. This is a hybrid position but the right candidate must be located in Boise, ID or surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

With limited supervision, responsible for monitoring CT Logistics System (CT) and PeopleSoft to ensure timely and accurate freight payments, working with vendors and customers (internal and external) to manage payment processing and resolve payment issues.

  • Perform duties required to transport the company's freight and product via motor and rail.
  • Follow company policy and procedures, transportation regulations, and meet internal and external customer delivery expectations.
  • Reconcile inventories, invoices, and purchase orders for over shipments requiring knowledge of accounting principles, terms of purchase, sale, credit, payment and shipment.
  • Provide problem resolution to disputes, demurrage, claims, diversion and rail equipment issues.
  • Handle internal customer inquiries for pricing, routing, dispatching, diversions and rail car location questions.
  • May coordinate with suppliers and sales team to optimize freight and minimize inventory costs.
  • Maintain and gain relevant knowledge that impact transportation and shipping best practices and innovation.
  • Support role responsible for: payment batch process; calculating freight, refund accruals and booking journal entries; resolving EDI issues; maintaining rate tables and carrier setup in the system.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requires strong organizational, planning, and communication skills. Strong data analytics skills preferred. Position requires specialized on-the-job training period; candidate must possess or have the willingness to learn a variety of different aspects in the transportation industry. Ability to understand and solve a variety of different mathematical calculations. Good written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on proofreading, editing, and supply chain terminology. Requires awareness of company policy and procedures as well as continually learning about new developments in the transportation industry. Experience in Transportation Management Systems as well as knowledge in a variety of different computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Basic knowledge of various aspects in the rail industry.

Bachelor's degree preferred. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in related job function or equivalent education a plus.
