Job Description

Kearney & Company is hiring a DevOps Automation Consultant to support the Air Force Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) program. As a DevOps Automation Consultant, you will be at the forefront of streamlining and enhancing the software development life cycle within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the charge in automating processes, ensuring that the infrastructure and deployment strategies are efficient, scalable, and reliable. You will be expected to manage a team of DevOps engineers, guiding them through complex automation challenges and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your role will involve close collaboration with both development and operations teams to create a seamless workflow that accelerates delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.

The DevOps Automation Consultant will:

  • Lead and manage the DevOps automation team
  • Develop and implement automation strategies and processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation into the development and deployment process
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team
  • Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of automation systems and processes

Qualifications

  • Current Secret clearance (Requires US Citizenship)
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science, information technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience supporting a DevOps/DevSecOps development, engineering or operations management environment
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and configuration management is essential
  • Experience with cloud services, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet
  • Ability to script in languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby will be crucial in creating custom automation solutions
  • A strong understanding of version control systems like Git will be necessary to maintain code quality and collaboration
  • Experience managing a team towards achieving automation objectives
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing full-scale automation strategies within a DevOps environment
  • A track record of problem-solving within high-pressure scenarios will demonstrate your capability to handle the dynamic challenges this role presents
  • Staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies will ensure that the organization remains at the cutting edge of DevOps practices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a blended government and contractor team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing in an Agile environment
  • Prior experience supporting a DoD environment or USAF technology infrastructure

The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
