Assists in the daily operation of the Animal Facility, in feeding of and caring for animals used in experiments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Follows policies and procedures for fulfilling animals' nutritional health and environmental requirements as directed under the supervision of the Lead Animal Care Technician. * Assists in receiving newly arrived animals and placing orders for new animals. * Participates in daily care and maintenance of the Animal Facility. * Participates in care, maintenance and sanitation of animal areas including all cage wash areas and cage equipment. * Observes animals daily and reports any abnormal findings or unusual behavior to supervisor; records weekly census. * Participates in weekend/holiday assignments for caring, feeding, and observing animals. * Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars and in-house discussions. * Performs other related functions as directed or required.
