The Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering department seeks to transform healthcare worldwide through interdisciplinary engineering innovation and to train future leaders and innovators in biomedical engineering. The Regenerative Biomaterials and Therapeutics Group (PI: Adam Feinberg) in the Biomedical Engineering Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on independent experimentation and/or directed research to 3D bioprint functional pancreatic tissue using the FRESH technique.

Tasks in this position may include organizing, implementing, and analyzing data collected from experiments involving live human cells, explanted animal tissue, and in vivo live animal studies. It may also include the development of research methodologies and animal protocols, as well as writing reports with descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree required.
  • Requires an in-depth knowledge of cell culture and tissue engineering. Candidates must also have experience in microfabrication techniques, microfluidic device design and implementation, advanced optical imaging modalities, and the development of controlled drug release systems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, along with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, are essential for this role.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
