$67,953.60 - $133,390.40 This position supports our AON Research Team. Job Description Summary: The Clinical Research Finance Manager oversees the financial aspects of clinical research operations, ensuring accurate budget development, financial tracking, and compliance with institutional policies and sponsor requirements. This role requires strong analytical, leadership, and collaborative skills to support investigators, sponsors, and research teams in achieving financial goals while maintaining regulatory and ethical standards.

Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

Primary Key Performance Areas:

KPI 1: Budget Development and Negotiation Oversight

  • Provide oversight and directive that create detailed and accurate budgets for clinical research studies, ensuring alignment with protocol requirements.
  • Provide oversight and directive to teams that negotiate budgets and payment terms with sponsors, including industry, government, and academic collaborators.

KPI 2: Financial Management and Oversight

  • Monitor financial performance across all clinical research projects, including revenue tracking, expenditure monitoring, and forecasting.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and collection of sponsor payments per contract terms.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews with stakeholders to assess project profitability and address variances.

KPI 3: Contract Management

  • Collaborate with study activation and legal teams to review and finalize financial terms in clinical trial agreements.
  • Ensure all financial terms are compliant with institutional and regulatory requirements.

KPI 4: Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure financial practices comply with institutional policies, federal and state regulations, and sponsor guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to stakeholders, including investigators, sponsors, and leadership.

KPI 5: Process Improvement & Leadership and Team Management

  • Identify and implement best practices to improve financial operations, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance transparency.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures for clinical research administration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Support
  • Provide financial guidance and training to investigators and research staff on budget management and compliance.
  • Serve as the financial liaison between research teams, sponsors, and institutional departments.
  • Supervise finance staff within the clinical research office, including workload management and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.
Position Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred). Certifications/Licenses: Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in clinical research or healthcare. Previous Experience:

  • Strong understanding of clinical trial agreements, research billing compliance, and sponsor requirements.
  • Proficiency in research management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
    • Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred
    • Prior experience with clinical trial data entry systems (EDC) preferred
    • Prior Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) preferred.

Travel: <25%

Standard Core Workdays/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
