Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable & Reporting - Fully Onsite in Raleigh, NC

Position Summary:
The Staff and Reporting Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's payables and ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments, in addition he or she will be is responsible for compiling financial and operational reports, supporting financial data analyses, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. He or she reports to the U.S. Accounting Manager. This role also includes the management of the fixed assets activity.

This role involves collaborating with internal departments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. The Staff and Reporting Accountant ensures the accuracy of transactions and supports continuous improvement process to strengthen controls and increase efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Invoice Processing: Receive and review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness including proper approval. Code invoices with appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare payments to vendors, ensuring adherence to payment terms. Reconcile payments with purchase orders, contracts, and supporting documentation.
  • Record Electronic Payments: Monitor bank transactions and record debit and draft payments as needed to the applicable vendor and general ledger account.
  • Vendor Relations: Communicate with vendors to resolve invoicing issues and discrepancies. Establish and maintain positive relationships with key vendors.
  • Vendor Creation: Liaise with Treasury Analyst to set up new vendors in ERP system.
  • Expense Reports: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with legal and local policies. Verify receipts and coding for accurate reimbursement.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Monitor accounts payable aging and ensure timely payment.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all payable transactions. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and operational reporting and support consolidation of financial results for group reporting. Improve financial reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation. Ensure compliance with audit requirements related to accounts payable.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all transactions, including invoices, agreements, supporting documents, and approvals
  • Fixed Assets: Perform the accounting treatment of the company's long-term assets not intended to be sold (acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, disposal).
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries to appropriate general ledger accounts as required.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain accounts payable process documentation.
Skills:
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and explain journal entries. Ability to reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications and ERP system (Sage).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and implement new processes.
  • Spanish is a plus.
Education / Experience :
  • Bachelor's Degree (in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred).
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, finance, or a related financial role is required.
