Summary:

This position will be engaged in facilitating the day to day operations for ocean freight shipments. The scope of this will be imports or exports into/out of the US and other countries. Modes of transportation include ocean and drayage as well as some air shipments as needed.

This includes tracking and providing relevant updates to all stakeholders on any deviations from expected shipment dates. Through this, this role will ensure that incremental costs are kept to a minimum and KPIs are available to highlight efficiencies and areas of opportunity.

In addition to the above, responsibilities will also include monitoring relevant ocean freight regulations and changes, participiating in new lane setups, and close communication with CI team the company is receiving the best cost and service on its shipments.

Role Responsibilities:






    • Communicate with internal and external parties on shipment forecasts and needs.
    • Track shipments in sync with ocean and drayage providers to ensure that required ETAs are met
    • Work with providers to troubleshoot any deviations from standard process
    • Interface with suppliers and/or customers to ensure timely booking releases
    • Monitor releases in port to ensure that detention and demurrage charges are avoided
    • Assist AP in the processing and investigation of ocean freight and accessorial charges.
    • Ensure +99% information accuracy transmitted to CBP in accordance with Trade Compliance guidelines.
    • Provide relevant KPIs for shipments and highlight areas of opportunity both internally and externally
    • Work with CI teams on opportunities to improve or optimize current processes.
    • Facilitate optimization of processes through use of logistics analytics/tracking software.
    • Participate in cross functional projects for new lane setups or launches, providing expertise into international logistics areas.
    • Monitor trends in the ocean freight industry to ensure shipments operate in streamlined and efficient fashion




Knowledge and Skills:



  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environment
  • Critical-thinking, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to adapt to ever-changing tasks
  • Attention to detail, and demonstrated ability of thorough analysis
  • Knowledge of Import/Export Operations in different countries is a plus
  • Experience working with multinational companies is desirable
  • Interpersonal communication skills, relationship management and collaboration skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective time management/prioritization skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Due to global scope, flexibility in working hours is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Excel), Access, Power BI



Minimum Requirements and Education:



  • BS/BA in Logistics, International Trade, Economics, Business or equivalent experience required.
  • 1 to 3 years directly working in international logistics. Minimum 1 year.
