Job Description

The School of Dentistry is looking for a reliable and self- motivated Clinical Technician II to work both independently and in a team environment as part of our Dental Clinic Dispensary Team.

This team is responsible for dispensing and receiving supplies and equipment for dental students and faculty in the Dental Clinic. The team also assist students with identifying and selecting the correct material for the procedure to be performed in the various Dental Clinics within the School of Dentistry. We see over 200+ patients per day!

This position is a works /learning environment, supporting Faculty, Staff, and Students and is a place for all to excel and grow professionally. You will be part of a team effort that provides student education and dental care for the community. You will work with pleasant and outgoing people from different departments throughout the building. One of the brightest sides of working at the dental school is meeting all of our new students for the first time and greeting them with a smile.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential in all aspects of the position. It is critical that the person in this job understands the importance of infection control procedures and following procedures and policies, recognizes names and uses of dental equipment, and complies with OSHA, Hazmat, and UMKC guidelines

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Dispense and receive supplies and equipment for dental students and faculty
  • Assist students with identifying and selecting the correct material for the procedure to be performed
  • Ensure that dental equipment and supplies that are returned are properly sterilized/disinfected/disposed of following patient treatment
  • Restocking of disposable materials in dispensary work area, clinic floor lab, and student carts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dispensary work area and surfaces
  • Periodic laundry of blankets, faculty clinic coats, and staff department jackets
  • Periodic cleaning and basic maintenance checks on a variety of equipment
  • Assist with student trial and WERB/ADEC boards as needed
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience is necessary from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
    can be acquired.
  • Certifications as required by regulatory agencies is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of dental materials and equipment
  • Previous experience with detail-oriented tasks
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment
Anticipated Hiring Range

Up to $17.50 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
