Mutual of Omaha is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team! This position plays a key role in coordinating and participating in all activities related to the preparation, issuance, reconciliation, and maintenance of the company's payroll and tax records, payments, and reporting.




WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:



  • Estimated Salary:

    • Associate HR Specialist: Hourly: $25-28.20, plus annual bonus opportunity
    • HR Specialist: Hourly: $28.20-32.00 plus annual bonus opportunity


  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2025, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2025, which is prorated based on the start date.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:



  • Accurately processes and verifies multi-state payrolls, time reporting information, and input files, ensuring timely completion and proper handling of errors.
  • Balances time reporting data, maintains orderly records for active and terminated employees, and submits new hire reporting files to the state each payroll cycle.
  • Distributes payroll reports to departments and processes manual checks as needed, meeting established deadlines.
  • Reviews and analyzes payroll data for accuracy, resolves issues, and provides expertise in payroll-related training and internal communications.
  • Delivers effective customer service to internal and external business partners while contributing to projects and aligning work with company goals.
  • Provides thorough and effective customer service when interacting with internal and external business partners.





WHAT YOU'LL BRING:



  • Strong experience applying policies, practices, and procedures in a business environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and utilizing appropriate systems to perform functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment


VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:



  • Previous payroll experience including payroll processing, overtime rules, multi-state payroll rules, payroll tax, and garnishments.
  • Proficient in HRIS software with preferred experience with Oracle or Workday products
  • Fundamental Payroll (FPC) certification
