POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Information Management, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an on-call part-time Sr. Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME). The Engineering Sr. SMEwill support the development, design, installation and fielding of Communications and Sensor Systems for usage in Naval Vessel Sink Exercises (SINKEX) for Naval Information Warfare Command (NIWC) Pacific and associated US Navy Commands.



  • Provide engineering support designing high-speed data acquisition system configurations, telemetry Starlink communication equipment configurations, data recording specifics, and implementation of systems/data nodes to record explosive data events on various ship tests.
  • Support weapons effects stakeholders to provide critical input to test plans. Perform tests in accordance with the developed test plan to validate the efficacy of successful candidates for material performance testing. Common test locations include Pacific Missile Range Facility, HI; Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD; Dahlgren, VA; and other locations as required.
  • Perform reviews of test plans, procedures, drawings, schematics, and schedules in support of U.S. Navy testing for various projects. Conduct field investigations to find, observe, and investigate root cause analysis for identified material testing preparation and planning as needed with regards to field and at-sea testing events.
  • Analyze and refined technical instrumentation layout; implement improved system layout for shock testing of materials and equipment; and provided analysis related to material degradation mechanisms caused by air-blast induced shock to support .
  • Provide SME (subject matter expert) engineering support to military material performance testing and failure analysis through technical writing of the instrumentation portion of test plans for environmental testing both ashore and afloat.


Payrate:$100.00 to $125.00 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills in the area of ballistic instrumentation and record ballistic phenomena with various arrays of sensors.
  • Experience using sensor types that measure pressure, acceleration, velocity, displacement, static/dynamic loading, temperature, absorbed energy, andromorphic test dummies, ballistic thorax test devices, compartmental water level flooding on ships, video situational awareness, strain gages, and fiber optics for acquisition triggering.
  • Experience working with ad hoc wireless network systems to provide command and control to data systems and firing systems on land and at sea.
  • Must have an active DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status required.
