As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education ( MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

Position Summary
IT Systems Support Professional will manage and support desktop, classroom, and lab imaging, assist in configuring classrooms for optimal functionality, and maintain the integrity of college backup systems. The ideal candidate will also provide support for classroom switching systems, room scheduling panels, screen mirroring devices, and system administration, including implementing and adhering to security policies. Additionally, this role includes providing training and support for frontline student and Tier 2 support staff to ensure effective use and troubleshooting of all systems.

Desktop Imaging and Application Deployment

  • Designs, builds, and implements lab/classroom and workstation system images for macOS and Windows based devices using JAMF, MDT and Intune.
  • Performs setup, software installation, and testing of computer server systems associated with Imaging, monitoring, and maintaining lab, classroom, and desktop machines.
  • Works with hardware/software vendors to diagnose and correct problems with hardware and software used to support lab and classroom computers.
  • Create/update documentation of systems, configurations and processes
  • Train/support Tier 2 technicians and front-line student workers in the use of these tools

  • Manage Solstice Screen sharing devices
  • Manage room schedule display signs and back-end systems
  • Provides backup support for Crestron classroom installations
  • Assist other staff to design, install, maintain and troubleshoot classroom technology
  • Writes scripts to automate server and lab/classroom process.
  • Troubleshoots hardware/software problems for computer lab/classroom machines and supporting servers.

  • Document computer security and emergency measures policies, procedures, and tests.
  • Perform risk assessments and execute tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
  • Review violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated.
  • Investigate, identify, test and recommend software solutions for information security purposes

  • Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems in physical and virtual environments
  • Serve as backup administrator for College-wide systems/services
  • Performs daily operations of managing server systems including software updates and operating system patching.
