TheSenior Associate, Operations Engineeringrole is vital in supporting the engineering needs of RWECE's existing solar fleet, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solar energy production. As an SME, this position designs solutions for rapid equipment restoration and provides technical support for large-scale initiatives, focusing on enhancing plant performance through repowering and expansion projects. The role involves extensive collaboration with solar plant operators, asset managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to evaluate and implement improvements and equipment upgrades. Leading projects from initial opportunity identification through feasibility assessments to completion, the Senior Associate works closely with field staff, third-party providers, and manufacturers to optimize energy yield and drive innovation and efficiency in solar plant operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for producing design drawings, calculations, processes, and procedures for internal and external teams
  • Reviewas-built information, operations history, and data when new projects are evaluated
  • Evaluateand selectalternatives, documenting the rationale and lessons learned along the way
  • Understandgrid-specific requirements, interconnection agreements, environmental limitations, and existing plants
  • Developspecifications for equipment, controls, and construction to meld into existing plants
  • Interact with Operations teams throughout the projects to guide means and methods as needed
  • Supportconstruction and commissioning of projects in the field and the office
  • Networkwith internal and external parties and team members to build a knowledge base and provide the best version of projects possible

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar field of engineering or equivalent experience
  • E.I.T. or P.E. certification preferred
  • Minimum 6years of professional experience in electrical operations or design
  • Strong track record in construction and operations, field support, RFI's, and working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Prior experience in the operation or design of wind and solar power plants, power distribution, substations, and/or conventional power generation is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to manage customer relationships
  • Excellent proficiency with AutoCAD, PVSyst, System Advisor Model, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Teams
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Energetic leadership, communication, and organization skills
  • Working experience with inverters, solar modules, mounting solutions, trackers, instruments
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team on time
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Structured in analyzing equipment, with an eye towards constructability and ease of operation
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Work with permitting requirements, interconnection agreements, environmental impact statements, etc.
  • Review field requirements, changeto meet operations' needs, flexible
  • Takeownership of projects and is proactive in resolving issues
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
