THE JOB:

Join the team at New York-New York as a Facilities Sound and Video Technician, where you'll play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our audio and visual systems! In this hands-on position, you'll ensure consistent system performance through routine inspections, troubleshooting, and overseeing the installation and upgrading of A/V equipment. Your technical expertise will help create a seamless environment for both guests and staff, contributing to the overall atmosphere and ensuring the facility's systems operate reliably. THE STARTING RATE: $34.80 an hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • System Monitoring: Conduct routine property inspections to verify the proper functioning of A/V systems, networks, and equipment across the facility.

  • Quality Control: Test and ensure the optimal performance of audio-visual systems, in-room networks, IP addresses, and VLAN configurations.

  • In-Room Support: Respond to service requests for troubleshooting sound, video, and network issues in guest rooms or other facility areas, including on-site visits as needed.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on A/V equipment, network components, and system configurations to maintain reliability and performance standards.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues within A/V systems, addressing network-related problems like IP conflicts or VLAN connectivity to restore system functionality.

  • Equipment Repairs: Repair and maintain audio, video, sound, projection, and network infrastructure to ensure continued operation of critical systems.

  • System Upgrades: Assist with the installation and upgrades of A/V systems, including automation controls, distribution systems, LED displays, and network integrations to enhance facility performance.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service activities, work logs, and network/IP configurations for accurate system tracking and future troubleshooting.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the audio/visual (A/V) field.

  • Availability: Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in digital and analog audio/video processing systems, fiber optics, A/V signal distribution (MATV, CATV, DMX, DSS), and troubleshooting related systems.

  • Certifications & Control Systems: Crestron Certification with hands-on experience in control systems such as Dante, 70V, and Crestron, along with networking skills including IP addressing and VLANs.

  • A/V Systems & Equipment: Experience with large and small screen projection systems, video walls, kiosks, and audio system design and installation (London Architect, Audio Architect, etc.).

  • Customer Service & Communication: Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, both in written and verbal forms.
