- Instill Safety as a top priority.
- Provides on-site supervision and direction to crew members.
- Familiar with project specifications and ability to understand plans.
- Establish and adjust work sequences to meet schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
- Ensure crew time cards are filled out and submitted weekly.
- Fill out daily foreman reports.
- Analyze and resolve issues that may arise.
- Ability to explain and understands survey and grade staking (Lasers, Transits, and GPS)
- Manage all excavating activities for your crew.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pipe Layer and Backhoe Operator Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing tasks involving physical labor /or operating for pipe installation on construction sites
- General cleanup of the site
- Unloading, handling and stockpiling material
- Placing, pushing, pulling and shoveling
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience as a pipe foreman/layer/backhoe operator in the Highway Heavy Civil Construction Industry
- Knowledgeable in OSHA standards
- Must be familiar with heavy equipment
- Willingness to learn and accept direction from supervisors
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Ability to work with tools and equipment such as, power and non-power tools
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb and periodically lift up to 50lbs
- Communication and interpersonal skills are a must
- Ability to manage time, multitask and prioritize
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Working Conditions
- Travel - This project is located in Charlotte, NC, with the potential of other locations throughout the Eastern Region.
- Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects. Exposed to high noise levels.
