Wellness Coordinator This position is an on-campus, full-time, 12-month appointment based in Champaign, Illinois covered by the Professional Support Staff (PSS) Union with an annual salary of $50,960.44. Essential Job Functions:
- Develop, recommend, update and implement Parkland programs and policies which promote health and wellness for Parkland College students.
- Plan, promote, and implement health education, wellness programs, refer to screenings, and trainings for students.
- Coordinate and collaborate with various College divisions, departments, and community organizations to develop, organize, and implement joint programming and events such as the Flu Clinic, Wellness Fair, Domestic Violence Awareness and Sexual Assault Awareness months.
- Collaborate with the Prospectus campus news to publish wellness-related articles as appropriate.
- Coordinate pregnancy and parenting resources by offering resource fairs, information and peer support, and networking opportunities. Coordinate support with pregnancy support program after initial intake, to provide students with access to site for parenting resources such as the Parkland Child Development Center and other campus and community resources
- Meet with expectant and post-delivery students to assess their status, offer lactation room options and serve as approver for lactation room(s) access.
- Provide alcohol and other drug programming in collaboration with the Counseling Services and Parkland Public Safety Department and reporting the effectiveness of the programming in the Biennial Review.
- Provide recommendations and innovative ideas for College/departmental wellness improvements and strategies.
- Appraise health/wellness situations and provide information/direction to students, faculty, and staff regarding policies, procedures and processes for resolving various issues.
- Partner with Parkland College Human Resources to support employee wellness efforts.
- Serve on campus committees related to Health and Wellness including Campus Alcohol Task Force and Civility Committee.
- Serve as the Parkland College representative as the Benefit Navigator. Intake, track, and recommend services to students who are seeking resources.
- Assist and advise College leadership on health and wellness-related policies and procedures.
- Serve as the Parkland College representative to the Illinois Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Other Drug and Violence Prevention affiliates and the Champaign/Urbana Alcohol and Other Drug Task Force. Responsible for the College's successful compliance with American College Health Association (ACHA) and Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) standards of health promotion in higher education.
- Manage and maintain accurate records and information and prepare reports for various College divisions and departments.
- Oversee the Wellness Kiosk and the promotion of the Wellness Kiosk
- Provide follow-up internally and externally on reported cases of communicable diseases among students and employees. Demonstrated ability to maintain organized systems.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community wellness-related agencies in order to provide mutually beneficial wellness programming.
- Assist in front-desk and ID station coverage, as well as other Student Life and Wellness Center functions to support the department.
- Collaborate with Student Life Coordinators to advance student engagement and student leadership development.
- Act as an integral member of the Student Life Team in planning and executing student engagement events calendar and support major events such as Fall Convocation, Cobra Carnival, Student Leadership Academy and Commencement.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or a related field.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, HIPAA standards, adult education teaching principles, epidemiology, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in alcohol and other drug prevention. Ability to handle confidential information and materials judiciously.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, provide updates and complete reporting processes in a timely manner Proficient at using desktop applications such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously, and to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Certification in health education, alcohol and other drug treatment/education, nutrition, or other health related specialization areas.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
