Ropes Course Instructor

• Perform appropriate sequence of events (introductions, PEEP, informed consent, stretching, spotting, etc.).
• Design the Ropes and Challenge Course (RCC) experiences to meet the needs of participants.
• Be flexible with work assignments including scheduled changes.
• Process experience to meet group goals.

• Document the daily inspections.
• Complete the Issues/Concerns/Suggestion Form when safety or equipment-related questions arise and submit the form to the manager of the Center for Organizational Advancement (COA).
• Use the communication logbook.

• Comply with the RCC policy and procedure manual and be flexible with changes.
• Perform all technical and mechanical aspects of the course (set-up, take-down, safety practices, etc.).
• Participate in annual technical retraining.

• Attend all mandatory in-services and other meetings relevant to the position.
• Complete all required orientation competencies and training within the COA and Hospital.
• Attend department meetings.
• Meet with the COA manager regarding guidance, training, program evaluation and problem reporting.
• Comply with safety practices within the Hospital's policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Develop the curriculum and skill tests for training/retraining sessions.
• Facilitate the 40 hour/week in-house training course and the 8-hour, in-house retraining course.
• Complete the RCC skills test for the trainees and give to manager.

• Communicate goals to fellow staff members.
• Demonstrate measurable goal achievement.
• Maintain department policies and procedures.
• Include requirements and guidelines from external agencies (JCAHO and state).
• Maintain and/or communicate to the appropriate party the function backlog at a set timeframe.
• Educate new staff regarding regulations or requirements of those functions that relate to their areas or departments, as directed.
• Demonstrate acceptance and training of student interns in the department, as directed.

• Involve self in the learning and the application of standards relevant to the Center for Organizational Advancement (COA).
• Participate in in-services/seminars and other meetings to increase involvement and awareness of regulations.
• Involve self in the education of other disciplines regarding the COA.

• Demonstrate punctuality and preparedness.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, if applicable.
• Maintain good organizational skills with agenda and minute preparation.
• Contribute in a positive, solution-focused manner.

• Gain understanding of the Performance Improvement process.
• Apply the PI model to your department's activities.
• Participate in RCC performance improvement tasks (inventory checklist, competency, infection control, RCC inspections).
• Participate in and/or create PI teams that lead to improvement in other Hospital areas.
• Education and involve self to the Hospital and the COA's performance improvement plans.

• Demonstrate organizational skills that promote timely response to all inquiries and to project completion.
• Communicate with all individuals in a positive and professional manner.
• Attempt to resolve individual issues with peers in a positive, calm manner with a focus on solution.
• Communicate concerns and provide solutions for same.
• Attend outside seminars to promote professional growth.
• Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude toward parties outside the Hospital (patient families, visitors, vendors, etc.).
• Comply with the Hospital's policies and procedures, including Human Resources, Infection Control and Employee Health policies and procedures.
• Project a professional image by wearing the appropriate, professional attire.
• Demonstrate teamwork with co-workers, managers, clients, and all other aspects of employment.

Additional Job Description:

• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification (or American Red Cross Professional Training) is required within 30 days of hire date, with annual re- certification.
• Rogers Memorial Hospital Ropes and Challenge Course technical training and annual technical retraining required. Initially, Ropes instructors must successfully complete low ropes certification and demonstrate mastery to be considered for high ropes training.
• Related education and/or experience is preferred
