Major Responsibilities:

Monitoring Deceased Organs on Machine Perfusion:

1. Maintain the organ preservation lab.

2. Prepare the preservation device, assist with organ preparation and cannulation, and monitor organs on the device.

3. Report viability assessments, perfusion parameters, and other relevant data to the surgeon.

4. Travel to donor hospitals with the device and transplant team when necessary.

5. Perform Lab maintenance. Order, rotate, and properly store lab supplies.

B. Living Donation Organ Packaging:

1. Label, package, and document organs for shipment, ensuring compliance with OPTN policies.

2. Coordination and communicate with couriers to ensure safe package hand-offs.

3. Report delays or concerns in line with program/hospital protocols.

C. Data Management and Quality Initiatives:

Participate in research activities such as informed patient consent, data collection, and data analysis. Participates in projects as necessary. Develops project work plans, timelines, resource allocations, and cost estimates. Create routine and ad hoc reports using system report writers and tools. Manage data imports from internal and external systems in coordination with IS technical resources. Implement system updates to ensure reliability and alignment with objectives. Perform chart audits and enter data into UNet or other performance databases using Epic.

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

1. Master's degree in Science, Nursing, or a Medical School Graduate.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

1. Minimum of 2 years of Healthcare related experience.

2. Strong understanding of health sciences, including anatomy and physiology.

3. Ability to follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment.

4. Availability for on-call duties, including weekends and holidays. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

1. Experience in OR/surgical settings.

2. Experience in solid organ transplantation.

3. Previous perfusion experience.

4. Familiarity with solid organ perfusion pump devices.
