Chief Engineer - Digital Range Training Systems

Orlando, FL

Overview:

Chief Engineer is responsible for installing and maintaining Force-on-Target training systems at various US Army CONUS sites, analysis of training range IT Networks, troubleshooting and solutions. The Chief Engineer reports to the Program Manager and works with the Engineering team for preparation of equipment to be fielded, installing the equipment and on-call support of the installed systems. Candidate must possess extensive experience building, operating, testing, and training with systems involved in Digital Range Training Systems (DRTS). Additionally, candidate will provide overall Program Management of the DRTS refresh contract. Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required, as candidate will have regular interface with military and civilian customer personnel.

Job Duties:



  • Manage Continuous Technology Refresh (CTR) of DRTS Ranges
  • Conduct the DRTS Tier 1 CTRs which include the Information Technology (IT) and AAR equipment replacement in the Control Tower (CT), Server Room, and AAR building, and the installation of all the latest DRTS systems software (SW) versions.
  • Perform work required to plan, procure, prepare, test, install, troubleshoot, integrate, and verify the CTR to include the removal and accountability of the components being replaced.
  • Integrate and install the CTR hardware and software to achieve a fully functional system IAW the DRTS performance specification (PRF-PT-768), VSS performance specification (PRFPT- 769)
  • Conduct Technical Review (TR), one for DMPTR CTRs and one for DMPRC CTRs, for the purpose of presenting the proposed HW selection and system design that meets the ATO Baseline.
  • Address any system component identified in the ATO baseline that will become obsolete/ End of Life (EOL), End of Sale (EOS), and/or End of Support.
  • Develop a comprehensive test and evaluation strategy.
  • Conduct Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and System Verification Tests (SVT)
  • Replace, integrate, and verify the aviation IT components to include all Evaluation Display Control (EDC) and Aviation Workstations (AWS) equipment.
  • Manage other team personnel in the field, coordinate travel, and be the main point of contact on the ground between the fielding team, customer, and engineering team.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in information technology, MIS or related field or equivalent professional work experience or certifications.
  • 5-8 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer system/network engineering.
  • Relevant network certifications and training related to network establishment and virtualization (Cisco, VMware, etc.).
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows (primary), experience with Linux a plus
  • Refresh of DRTS experience. Prefer at least 3 full cycle refreshes.
  • Experience with Digital Multi-Purpose Range Complexes (DMPRC) and Digital Multi-Purpose Training Ranges (DMPTR)
  • Proficient in MS suite of tools to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Secret Clearance
