Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center is looking for a nurse to join our growing team!

22.5 hours per week

M-F 2P-10P

Weekends and Holidays required on a rotation basis

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to individual residents and significant others, when appropriate, as directed by the nursing and medical plan of care while utilizing the nursing process. Then RN communicates with the resident, family and multi-disciplinary team members to provide up-to-date information (teaching), promote effective coping behaviors and evaluate the resident's response to implemented care. He/she organizes, within the work period, the aspects of care which he/she is accountable and coordinates resident care with multi-disciplinary team members to facilitate health promotion and continuity of care in a cost efficient manner.
Education and Training Required:
a-Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

a-Current licensure as an RN, in the state of Wisconsin.

a-CPR certified.

a-Meets health requirements.


Experience:
a-Ability to work in a long term care environment with appropriate technological support.

a-Must be able to deal with multiple priorities in a calm manner.

a-Requires decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

a-Recognizes legal responsibilities and functions as specified by Nurse Practice Act.


Physical Requirements:

aFrequently stand, walk, and sit.

aOccasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment while using gait belts and transfer devices.

aOccasionally push and pull up to 25 pounds for transporting patients and moving equipment.

aOccasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment or supplies.

aOccasionally handle objects, smell, and feel control knobs, switches, and levers.

aFrequently carry objects weighing 10 pounds or less.

aOccasionally carry objects weighing 11 - 15 pounds.

a-Sight:

aDuring a normal work shift, can use all sight capacities, including spatial, peripheral, and depth perception, near and far vision, colors, and accommodation while reviewing patient records, computer screens, gauges on patient equipment, monitors, etc.

a-Cognition/Communication:aContinually utilizes simple reading skills, and normal conversations.

aOccasional exposure to simple writing skills and basic math functions.

aFrequently is exposed to low-volume speech with patients and telephone conversations with other members of the healthcare team, physicians, and family members.

a-Environmental Conditions:

aContinual exposure to an inside, patient environment with occasional unpleasant odors or noises.

aOccasional exposure to low light or glare conditions.

a-Potential Hazards:

aOccasional exposure to infectious blood/body fluids and diseases requiring infection control practices.

aOccasional exposure to needles, syringes/sharps during medication administration, assistance with treatments, invasive procedures.

aMay handle hazardous drugs.

a-Psychological, Situational, Functional Factors:

aFlexible, able to rotate shifts, occasionally work overtime, and be on call.

aAble to work independently, take initiative, work closely with others, plan and direct patient care, manage conflict and/or difficult situations.

aPrioritize workflow while maintaining speed, accuracy and consistency.
