Accounting Manager (J-SOX knowledge preferred)
Work Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)
Reports to: CEO
Overview:
A Phoenix-based electronic components and testing technology company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join their finance team. With a history of nearly 50 years, they are a well-established company recently acquired by a Japanese listed company. They are a small but growing team of approximately 30 employees, dedicated to providing innovative solutions to their customers.
The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the company's accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, month-end/year-end closings, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (both US GAAP and Japanese accounting standards). This role will report directly to the CEO and will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
* Manage the month-end/year-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
* Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Prepare and analyze key financial metrics and reports for management review.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (US GAAP and Japanese accounting standards).
* Manage and mentor junior accounting staff.
* Liaise with the parent company in Japan on financial reporting and other matters.
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
* Participate in strategic planning and business development initiatives.
* Ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
* 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of US GAAP and familiarity with Japanese accounting standards preferred.
* Experience with ERP systems (experience with [specific ERP system, if applicable] is a plus).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Japanese language proficiency is preferred but not required.
