Myers and Stauffer LC is a certified public accounting and health care reimbursement consulting firm, specializing in audit, accounting, data management and consulting services to government-sponsored health care programs (primarily state Medicaid agencies, and the federal Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services). The GL Accountant is responsible for assisting and supporting the internal accounting function at Myers & Stauffer LC. This position will ensure accurate general ledger data entry, timely and accurate preparation of journal entries, support the monthly close process, and assist with General Ledger account reconciliations.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure accurate data entry for all customer invoices and allocation of all cash payments
  • Review aged Accounts Receivables / Unbilled Receivables balances
  • Preparation of journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Preparation of monthly General Ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation of property tax returns, state regulatory compliance reporting, and firm licensing requirements
  • Assist with external and internal audit/review process
  • Assist with Project revenue accounting (i.e. project setups, maintenance, revenue adjustments)
  • Produce financial reporting as required by management
  • Establish and adhere to financial accounting and internal control policies and procedures
  • Special projects and other monthly close requirements as needed, in support of accounting team (Time Administrator, Accounts Payable, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred
  • 2-4 years of relevant accounting work experience required
  • Proficient use of applicable technology including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc. are a daily requirement of this position), required
  • SOX experience preferred
  • Proven working knowledge of one or more corporate accounting functions (AR, AP, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with Oracle and/or Acumatica a plus
  • Experience with revenue recognition under ASC606 a plus
  • High degree of data entry accuracy, attention to detail, and organization of work
  • Analyze and interpret financial information, identify inconsistencies and/or errors
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to self-manage workload and initiate tasks independently
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal and external teams
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills

The Team:
Myers and Stauffer takes pride in the welcoming and collaborative culture we have throughout our offices. For this position, the employee will report to one of our Managers or Senior Managers on the internal accounting team.

Work Style:
Our general business hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, but can vary based on business needs. Dependent on performance, our in-office associates are eligible for a hybrid work schedule after their initial 90-day training period. As a company, we are always willing to discuss potential flexibility that an employee may need to better suit their work-life wellbeing.
