Could you be the full-time Operations and Maintenance Technician we're looking for? Your future role Pay Rate:
$28.72/hour
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining AirTrain cars, station doors, wayside systems, and related equipment. You will contribute to our operations that run 24 hours a day, seven days a week by performing a variety of technical duties to ensure optimal performance and safety. We'll look to you for:
- Performing corrective and preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and adjustments on a range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conducting inspections and maintenance of train car subsystems, wayside subsystems, and passenger station subsystems.
- Troubleshooting complex systems to identify problems or failures, and using diagnostic equipment to isolate faults.
- Participating in safety awareness programs and following established safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of combined mechanical and/or electrical work experience in a relevant field (formal education may substitute experience).
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Competencies & Skills:
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical and mechanical test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, schematics, and parts breakdowns.
- Strong ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Capability to document work accurately on written and computerized forms.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without difficulty.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree (A.S.) in a related mechanical or technical discipline and/or vocational training/certification in a related discipline.
- Experience diagnosing electronic and mechanical systems, including working with PLCs and relay logic systems.
- Proficiency in using computer applications for reporting, communication, and inventory control.
- Hands-on experience with AC and DC power and control systems, HVAC systems, metal fabrication, or machining would be a strong asset.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you will encounter conditions characteristic of a professional maintenance environment, including:
- Regular exposure to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme temperatures, as well as risks associated with electrical shock and vibration.
- Moderate to loud noise levels, requiring you to work in a train yard with live rails.
- Frequent walking, handling, reaching, and the need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities that include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
