What You'll Do in This Position

This posting is for a manager position in the Site Infrastructure Engineering (SIE) department within the Facility and System Engineering group. This position will be the manager over Fluid Systems and Environmental Engineering overseeing a team of design authority engineers. This group provides engineering oversight and support for various Fluid Systems across the Savannah River Site (SRS), including domestic water, river water, chilled water, process and service water, sanitary wastewater, and steam generation and distribution. This group also provides Environmental engineering oversight and support for outfalls, basins and landfills across SRS.
Responsible to lead design authority engineers by scheduling, budgeting, assigning and directing activities for the design, development, engineering, implementation, testing, qualification, troubleshooting and maintenance of the systems and facilities, following DOE Orders and the Engineering E7 Manual.
Provide leadership and support to subordinates daily by determining customer and site needs in the areas of responsibility, establishing milestones and objectives, directing personnel, conducting group meetings, reviewing designs, overseeing maintenance activities, providing engineering technical support, progress reports, tests and conducting performance evaluations. Strict emphasis on safety, accountability, cost effectiveness, security and continuous improvement. Establish and maintain Work Authorization Documents with customers which represent mutually agreed upon objectives for scopes of work and scheduled milestones. Establish schedules, scopes, budgets, and deliverables. Explain cost and schedule variances to management and customers. Recommend and approve the purchase of new equipment. Maintain schedule compliance with customers and vendors through direct contact and group meetings. Determine personnel work assignments and job responsibilities by reviewing personnel training and experience and establishing training paths for personnel development. Manage procurement and budget by reviewing the preparation of functional performance requirements, functional design criteria, alternative studies, sole source justifications, and specifications for equipment and software. Monitor and evaluate responsible system configuration management and provide life cycle management for assigned systems.
Lead, either through Line Engineering Management or Programmatic Engineering Management within the Level 2 Engineering Manager's area of responsibility, a significant portion of the organization and functional areas within Engineering.
For the sub-organization that is managed:
- Ensure that strategy and objectives by the Level 3 manager are met.
- Has accountability for quality of the products, schedule, and budget for the sub-organization.
- Assesses performance of the organization.
- Defines work to be accomplished by subordinate organizations, work teams and individual contributors.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
