The SaaS Business Development Manager (BDM) is a vital member of the Commercial Excellence Organization, serving as a strategic overlay resource to support and drive the sales organization's success in SaaS opportunities. Partnering closely with the field sales team, the BDM provides strategic account focus, guides the sales process, and plays a critical role in promoting SaaS solutions by clearly articulating their value to customers and prospects.

As a trusted advisor and Subject Matter Expert, the BDM ensures adherence to internal processes that foster healthy, successful engagements for PTC, its customers, and partners. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to manage complex, solution-driven sales processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sales Enablement & Expertise:
    • Act as a technical and sales expert for SaaS solutions, bridging the gap between the field sales team and the corporate ecosystem.
    • Provide tailored consulting to the sales team on presenting and positioning PTC SaaS solutions effectively.
  • Strategic Deal Support:
    • Develop pricing and packaging strategies for SaaS solutions that align with business targets.
    • Support contract negotiations by addressing cloud or SaaS-specific elements.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to align solutions with requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Evangelism & Value Articulation:
    • Promote SaaS solutions to internal teams and customers to drive excitement, urgency, and adoption.
    • Deliver impactful presentations on SaaS solutions, demonstrating a deep understanding of cloud offerings and their unique value.
  • Account Strategy & Growth:
    • Identify high-potential accounts, prioritize opportunities, and collaborate with sales teams to drive growth within defined territories.
    • Cultivate trusted advisor relationships with sales teams, key accounts, and customer stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Manage the sales pipeline, deal progression, and ensure accurate reporting through Salesforce (SFDC).
    • Track key account metrics, including quarterly sales results and annual forecasts.
    • Provide proactive customer planning and readiness for SaaS solutions, connecting customers with partners as needed.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical and business acumen to understand and convey complex enterprise software solutions.
  • Outstanding communication skills to ensure clarity and alignment across extended teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales opportunities with urgency and escalate challenges to remove roadblocks.
  • 5+ years of experience in a SaaS sales or overlay sales role.
  • Familiarity with major cloud providers (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Customer-centric mindset, passion for innovation, and expertise in driving territory-based sales campaigns.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate value propositions effectively.
  • Resilience under pressure and ability to navigate ambiguity or shifting priorities.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS technologies, including single- and multi-tenant solutions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools for reporting and presentations.
  • Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS).
