GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Manager, Field Marketing will have a general understanding of a franchisee system while also offering support to Potbelly corporate shops. This position will drive brand awareness through developing grassroots local marketing tactics and is responsible for creating, executing and tracking local shop marketing plans, and ensuring the proper resources are available for support.

The Manager, Field Marketing will support Potbelly's growth initiative by managing new shop openings. This role will work with franchisees as well as new corporate shops to create grand opening celebrations leveraging local media tactics and community relations, all to help establish Potbelly as the go-to neighborhood sandwich shop with crave-able, quality food.

This position reports to the Field Marketing Director and works cross-functionally to manage and activate the brand strategy across corporate and franchisee Potbelly shops.

The position will require cross-functional interaction and will give exposure to all aspects of a growing business.

FOCUS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as liaison between field operators and marketing team.
  • Leads all shops in Local Shop Marketing process and LSM Toolkit management: event approval, creative request follow-up, LSM spend tracking, etc.
  • Leads NSO marketing planning as needed: shop profile completion and coordination with vendor, oven warming and grand opening planning, spend tracking, etc.
  • Participate as needed in Ops/Franchisee meetings/activities to educate, inform, and build relationships.
  • Draft clear, concise marketing communications for shops based on needs.
  • Respond to field operations and solicitation phone calls and emails.
  • Assist with any special project needs.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND BEHAVIORS

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing or related
  • 4+ years of field marketing or related experience; QSR, FCR or Retail preferred
  • Strong communications skills; ability to effectively communicate information and contribute innovative ideas in written and verbal format
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong ability to build solid relationships with partners and franchisees
  • Ability to influence franchisees and different cross-functional groups
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and internet browser software is required
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Lead and behave according to the Potbelly Values and uphold the Potbelly Way

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 45 to 55 hours a week
  • Ability to stand/walk for 10+ hours per day during marketing events.
  • Ability to travel as needed, multiple times throughout the year.
  • Ability to finely manipulate and key in data.
  • Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music, customer, and employee traffic.
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
  • Must be able to engage in problem-solving skills to help identify and solve potential issues in the field
  • Must be able to communicate heavily through text, telephone, e-mail, instant messaging, video conferencing, and in-person communications
