Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for receiving payment and posting amount to customer's account; keeping records of collection and status of accounts.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Performs a wide variety of credit functions for larger or more complex accounts.
  • Ensures compliance with established guidelines, reviews and monitors credit sources, credit files, customer applications and delinquent accounts.
  • Maintains records on credit risks, delinquent accounts and incomplete files. Notifies customers of delinquent accounts to solicit payment.
  • Compiles and maintains basic credit information.

Nature and Scope

  • May modify processes to resolve situations.
  • Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies. Work typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor or direct "customers" of the process
  • Is sought out and/or assigned to provide general guidance/direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring/firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Technical certification or Associates degree may be required in some areas. Generally 5 to 7 years of experience in related area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Finance, accounting or related field desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills preferred. The candidate should be able to import/export data, use various lookup & logic formulas and be comfortable with pivot tables, data models & dashboards.
  • Must be effective communicator (verbal and written) with exceptional phone skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications such as Word and Excel is a must.

  • Experience desired but not required in construction lien waivers.
  • Support team within multi-functions of the department, identify and help slimline current processes.
  • Preferred knowledge of state lien and bond statutes, construction credit.
