Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Enrollment Initiatives is to support the growth of enrollment within NJIT's Hillier College of Architecture and Design's undergraduate, graduate and professional certificate programs. The Assistant Director of Enrollment Initiatives will be responsible for implementing strategies that enhance the visibility and reputation of the Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) among key audiences including potential students, their parents, and the local and national design community. Strategies and efforts must drive and support annual enrollment goals, increase awareness and contribute to the overall success of HCAD and its programs. The candidate will bring higher education recruitment experience to execute innovative ways to reach the target audiences and generate and nurture quality leads for HCAD programs. The Assistant Director of Enrollment Initiatives will report to the HCAD Director of Enrollment, Revenue and Administration with a dotted line report to the Executive Director of University Admissions. In addition, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Initiatives works with the College's leadership team and other HCAD staff as needed to accomplish shared goals.
Essential Functions:
The Assistant Director of Enrollment Initiatives will work in close coordination with HCAD staff, University Admissions, and the NJIT Offices of Strategic Communications to support action plans and augment strategies and tactics used to achieve recruitment goals. This person will also perform the following tasks:
- Represent HCAD at targeted recruitment events including, but not limited to, college fairs, webinars, open houses, and school visits both on- and off-campus.
- Provide regular updates and best practices in industry through benchmarking and research on competing programs.
- Effectively track and measure HCAD recruitment information in the University CRM, application and marketing automation systems with metrics related to the enrollment lifecycle, ensure that all events and leads are being recorded, and evaluate the effectiveness of specific events and activities.
- Implement an effective HCAD recruitment strategy at the direction of the College's leadership for assigned target audience(s) for graduate and undergraduate professional programs.
- Coordinate staffing and logistics in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment, Revenue and Administration for on-campus and external recruiting events including but not limited to Open Houses, Experience Days, National Portfolio Days, and College Fairs which may require travel, evening and/or weekend work.
- Work in collaboration with Strategic Communications and HCAD Communications Manager to develop creative assets for a variety of channels including but not limited to print and digital marketing and media.
- Ensure information on HCAD website pages is up-to-date and impactful for prospective students.
- Generate and implement new ideas to enhance the yield of admitted students and reduce the melt of deposited students.
- Collaborate with NJIT Honors College to increase HCAD Dorman Scholars and Dean's Scholars enrollment.
Additional Functions:
- Provide status reports that track qualitative and quantitative metrics from events and campaigns.
- Promote HCAD summer programs for high school students and serve as the primary on-site administrative support for HCAD summer programs while they are in session.
- Provide portfolio feedback sessions and other resources to support prospective students.
- Share feedback with HCAD leadership and instructors as needed or requested.
- Attend weekend and/or evening recruiting events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean, Director(s), and/or Department Chairs.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in admissions recruiting.
- Excellent computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Friendly and outgoing with a strong service-oriented demeanor.
- Ability to network and leverage connections in support of individual and HCAD goals.
- Strong verbal communication skills including comfortability with public speaking and providing effective presentations to various audiences.
- Experience with popular online publishing platforms and all social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to meet reporting deadlines and balance multiple projects.
- Successful candidates will be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously while maintaining strong, consistent communication with leadership.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background or experience with creative academic programs and related career outcomes.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with regional high schools and community colleges.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Slate, Adobe creative suite, and/or Canva.
- Experience in analytics reporting.
- Driver's License.
