What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Labs is seeking a passionate Community Relations Manager to lead our Community Involvement team in making a meaningful impact through corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs. This role is designed for an individual who is deeply committed to community development and connecting people to significant causes. You will manage corporate contributions, employee giving, volunteerism, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) career exploration programs, all while reflecting Sandia's values and mission. You will report to the External Engagements Senior Manager (0160).

Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage team members, including hiring, professional development, performance management, recognition, and disciplinary actions.

  • Lead initiatives that align with Sandia's values by understanding the organization's work and expertise and connecting it with potential beneficiaries and collaborators.

  • Track the effectiveness of programs, adjust for impact, and manage budgets in executing the corporate citizenship strategy and goals.

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with existing and new internal stakeholders and external community partners to identify shared priorities and collaborative opportunities that benefit Sandia's mission and local communities.

  • Guide staff in effectively delivering programs and events that address regional needs, engage employees, and accomplish corporate community citizenship objectives.

  • Identify opportunities for Sandia leadership and the Community Involvement team to participate on community-based boards, committees, and other related organizations.

  • Collaborate with Communications to promote Sandia's community involvement programs to internal and external audiences.

  • Identify issues and develop solutions to situations affecting the program, demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.



This position is hybrid, where the selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$114,000 - $193,600

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus (8) or more years of experience, or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE L-level clearance is required.



Qualifications We Desire:



  • At least two years of leadership or management experience.

  • Active DOE L-level security clearance.

  • Minimum of (2) years of experience planning, implementing and measuring corporate community involvement programs that connect the organization and the local community, and advance organization priorities.

  • Familiarity with leveraging technology including digital fundraising platforms, social media engagement, knowledge of corporate donations and community investment models.

  • Demonstrated experience creating accountability, conflict management, and setting clear expectations.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external customers, including the ability to develop long-term community and organizational partnerships.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include writing reports and presenting information to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt programs to meet changing community and employee needs.



About Our Team:

The Community Involvement team is responsible for ensuring that Sandia National Laboratories is recognized as a valued and responsible corporate citizen and community partner. The team leverages corporate contributions with employee giving and volunteerism to strengthen our local communities in two focus areas: K-12 Educational Success/STEM Career Exploration and Family Stability.
