Job Description

Albany International is a multinational corporation that specializes in advanced textiles and materials processing. The Company manufactures engineered components, primarily for the aerospace and paper industries, including products like composite aircraft parts, fabrics used in paper manufacturing, and advanced filtration materials. The company has 2 core businesses, The Albany Machine Clothing segment is the world's leading producer of custom-designed fabrics and belts essential to production in the paper, nonwovens, and other process industries' products. Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is a rapidly growing supplier of highly engineered composite parts for the aerospace industry.

The Albany International Corp. Legal Department is looking for a Paralegal or Administrative Assistant to join our team. Albany is a global company and maintains intellectual property rights in numerous jurisdictions around the world. The successful employee will manage Albany International's Intellectual Property portfolios, will communicate directly with our R&D/Technical/Sales teams and outside counsel, and will be the sole support person for the Assistant General Counsel, Director of Intellectual Property at our Corporate Headquarters.

Responsibilities:



  • Support the Assistant General Counsel - Director of Intellectual Property in executing IP strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage Albany International Corp.'s global IP portfolio, including trademarks, trade secrets and patents, overseeing searches, filings, registrations, and renewals.
  • Coordinate closely with outside counsel and service providers to ensure efficient prosecution.
  • Monitor and maintain IP portfolio databases to ensure deadlines are met and records are accurate.
  • Prepare and/or execute necessary formal documents.
  • Manage our inventor awards program.
  • Work with inventors to gather pertinent information in support of patent applications.
  • Work with business units to collect and maintain patent-use information.
  • Monitor and manage annuity activities relating to payments and due dates.
  • Assist with invoice review and management.
  • Prepare reports for legal team and business units.
  • Draft and review confidentiality agreements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Prepare expense and purchasing card reports for the AGC, Director of IP.
  • Assist with preparing and tracking budgets.
  • Maintain Outlook calendars, scheduling meetings, conference room and video conference equipment.
  • Clerical duties.

Education and Experience Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree, Associate's degree in business, legal or related field or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent level of experience.
  • Four to five years of experience in intellectual property management, preferably in a global corporate environment or law firm.
  • Proficiency in IP portfolio management, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office products, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional acumen and demonstrated customer focus with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Current Notary licensure preferred.

  • Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
  • Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.

While performing the responsibilities of the IP Administrative Assistant's job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
