About the Team

OpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. OpenAI's Revenue team works cross-functionally to grow and evolve the Company's commercial offerings. This team oversees billing operations, deal desk, revenue systems and revenue close, in ensuring the organization's revenue processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Revenue Systems, you will drive the optimization of OpenAI's billing systems and play a central role in scaling our revenue operations. This is a high-impact role where you'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver seamless billing for customers, support new product launches, and automate critical processes.

This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with OpenAI's fast-growing suite of commercial products, ensuring our systems meet the needs of an expanding customer base. You will be responsible for building scalable solutions, influencing the architecture of billing systems and processes, and leading cross-functional initiatives that have a direct impact on OpenAI's growth.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

• Lead efforts to optimize OpenAI's existing billing systems, improving accuracy, efficiency, and scalability to meet the needs of a rapidly growing customer base.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure seamless billing configurations and compliance for new product launches.

• Identify opportunities to scale billing systems and processes in line with OpenAI's ambitious product roadmap.

• Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership, providing updates on key initiatives and delivering insights that shape long-term revenue strategies.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have a proven track record in revenue accounting (7+ years preferred) with hands-on experience in financial billing operations for both B2B and B2C customers (3+ years preferred).

• Bring meaningful experience in building, improving, or maintaining large-scale billing systems to support complex and high-growth environments.

• Possess a deep understanding of revenue recognition, financial compliance, and audit readiness, with particular expertise in usage-based SaaS models.

• Are comfortable working with ambiguity, solving problems, and managing timelines in a rapidly changing environment.

• Identify as a systems thinker with a voracious desire to learn and a talent for sharing knowledge in clear and concise ways.

• Are a skilled communicator, adept at crafting frameworks, narratives, and visuals to simplify complex concepts and build consensus across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
