Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator
Job Summary Under the supervision of a Clinical Research Supervisor or Principal Investigator (PI), the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of clinical studies, and may receive training and development to prepare and advance for journey-level work at the next level within the series.
May be responsible for the coordination of one or more single or multi-site, active or follow-up clinical trials; help prepare protocols for study initiation; help design flow sheets, data forms and source documents; gather and interpret medical, surgical and laboratory data regarding clinical trial subjects; may apply understanding of inclusion/exclusion eligibility criteria for protocols; help recruit, enroll, register, schedule and retain study subjects; record protocol specific treatments and assure collection and shipment of samples; assist research personnel to keep patients on study schedules; complete study forms to submit to sponsors and/or appropriate agencies; collect, enter and clean data into study databases, maintaining data quality; assist with data analysis; assist with preparation of reports and tables; attend team meetings; and perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will perform the above duties for an ongoing pilot clinical trial and an ongoing clinical study that both focus on improving the health of patients living with dementia and their family/friend caregivers. The successful applicant will also be involved in pilot trials/studies focused on vaping cessation interventions and co-use of tobacco and cannabis among young adults. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $28.48 - $45.80 (Hourly Rate). The mission of the Department includes research, teaching, patient care, and public service. The Department has a decentralized organizational structure across four locations (Mission Bay, Parnassus Heights, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System, and the Zuckerberg San Francisco General) and approximately 38 divisions. UCSF DOM has consistently ranked among the top four departments of medicine in the
country. Authority and accountability of the Department rests with the Department Chair (leads Parnassus Heights site) and directs the Vice Chairs/Chiefs at the SFVAHCS and ZSFG.
The Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is one of the divisions within DOM and SOM. DGIM, one of the larger Divisions in DOM, is home to a spectacular group of faculty, learners, and staff committed to outstanding patient care, research, and education. Required Qualifications
- HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
- Attention to details;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment; project management and coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, patient family members/friends, co-workers, & physicians.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
- Experience working with patients or study subjects.
- Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer it to data collection forms or directly into databases.
- Experience working with RedCAP, Qualtrics system, or other electronic clinical research databases.
- Experience working with usage of Human Research Protection Program (IRB) online iMEDris system.
- Experience working with research studies that use smartphones, tablets, or Zoom
- Experience working with studies that use survey data
- Experience working with studies that use interview data
